Who we are
The AGI Preparedness Institute (AGIPI) is an association under Swiss law based in Geneva. We are responsible for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at info@agipreparedness.org.
What information we hold and where it comes from
We keep contact and professional details of people we work with or may wish to work with: typically name, email address, organisation, role, and the context in which we met or corresponded. We also hold what you send us, such as emails, event registrations, newsletter sign-ups, and expressions of interest in working with us.
Most of this comes from you. Some comes from public professional sources (organisation websites, conference programmes, professional networks) or from people who introduce us. We do not deliberately collect sensitive personal data.
What we use it for
We use this information to run the institute's work: to stay in touch with people in our field, to answer you, to invite you to events, to share our publications and updates, to consider you for roles or collaborations if you have asked us to, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising on behalf of others.
Who we share it with and where it is stored
We do not sell or pass on your details to third parties for their own use. When we organise an event or activity together with partner organisations, we may share the names, affiliations and email addresses of invitees and participants with those co-organisers for the purposes of that event. We rely on service providers to store and process data on our behalf: a contact database, email and office software, form and newsletter tools, and website hosting. Some of these providers store data outside Switzerland, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and the United States. Where a country is not recognised by Switzerland as offering adequate protection, we rely on the providers' contractual safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses). We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep contact details for as long as we are in touch with you or reasonably expect to be, and other records for as long as we need them for the purposes above or are required to keep them by law. If you ask us to delete your details, we do so unless a legal obligation requires otherwise.
Your choices and rights
You can tell us at any time that you do not want to hear from us, and we will stop. Mailings sent to a wider list include an unsubscribe option. You can also ask what information we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted, and you can object to a particular use. Write to info@agipreparedness.org. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Our website does not use tracking cookies or analytics. Our hosting provider records technical data such as IP addresses in server logs for security and to keep the site running. Our newsletter is hosted on Substack; if you subscribe there, Substack's own privacy terms apply to your subscription. Links to other sites are subject to those sites' terms.
Changes and applicable law
